How to Keep Creating When the World is Going to S**t.

How to solider on when you feel like giving up.

The earth is getting warmer and there are warning signs of another economic collapse on the horizon. You may also be one of the millions of people without secure housing, clean water, or good health. Unemployment is low in the US, but more experts are suggesting it’s because the market is flooded with low wage part-time work and gig economy jobs which skew the numbers, but do nothing to curb the rising costs of living.

In addition to a crapsack world, you may be going through some personal issues that manifest into an existential pessimism. I’ve been going through a personal hell most of my life, including bouts of depression, financial instability, homelessness, trauma, health issues, broken trust, and even suicidal ideation. I struggle with my demons daily. But despite it all, I’m foolishly hopeful about the future and I push through the pain to create my best work.

While I continue to create, primarily because of the sunk-cost fallacy, the truth is creating gives me some control over my life. It also prepares me for the unexpected and cements my belief that life is worth fighting for.
